Who it’s for

  • Travelers who want a widely documented 30-hour ANC battery claim and a 3-minute charge for extra listening (Sony/Amazon copy).
  • Call-heavy users: Sony lists 4 beamforming mics plus a total of 8 mics for ANC.
  • Android listeners who want LDAC (widely documented for this model).

Who should skip

  • People who need folding hinges for a tiny case — XM5’s non-folding design is a documented trade-off vs older XM4.
  • Buyers who treat hinge durability as a deal-breaker: public review and legal-discussion themes exist around XM5 hinges. We have not inspected units.

Sourced facts

  • Included: headphones, protective case, USB-C cable, 1.2 m headphone cable (Amazon).
  • SoundGuys (2026 deal coverage): still recommends XM5 as a relevant Sony ANC pair even after XM6, citing 30-hour battery, multipoint, LDAC.
  • We will not reprint a sale price as if it were permanent.

Verdict

Still the default “worth it” Sony over-ear if the live price is well below a new flagship. Skip if you need a folding travel cup or you want Bose’s Immersive Audio / CustomTune stack instead.
