New games this week: October 19–25, 2026

This is a release week, not a rumor week. The eight games below are the ones Game Informer, Gematsu, and official store pages actually date to October 19–25. Where those lists disagree, we say so instead of picking a winner.

Frostpunk — October 19

Today. 11 bit studios’ 2018 survival city-builder lands on Nintendo hardware. Game Informer lists Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Niche Gamer quotes the studio saying the same two SKUs, with a Base Game and a Complete Edition that folds in The Rifts, The Last Autumn, and On The Edge. Gematsu’s Japan roundup only flags Switch. We are not pretending that is one list.

We Were Here Tomorrow — October 20

Tuesday on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Game Informer, Gematsu, and GameDropRadar all print that date. GameDropRadar’s “worth watching” board flags it on wishlists; that is their metric, not a review.

Mycopunk — October 20

Same day, PlayStation 5 and PC. Game Informer dates the launch October 20. Massively Overpowered and COGconnected both report this as the 1.0 exit from Steam Early Access, not another EA build. GameDropRadar still tags the listing “Early Access”; treat that tag as stale until the storefront flips.

Stupid Never Dies — October 21

Wednesday on PlayStation 5 and PC. Gematsu, Game Informer, and GameDropRadar agree on the date and those two platforms. Gematsu’s Japan hardware list is PS5 physical plus a Steam SKU.

Final Fantasy Resonance — October 22

Thursday on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Square Enix’s Steam page dates it October 22 and calls it “the first FINAL FANTASY to join the HD-2D lineup,” with pixel-art 3D models, turn-based combat, and Visions of series characters. Gematsu notes a game-key card on Switch 2. Steam is still in pre-purchase as of this check.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort — October 22

Thursday, Nintendo Switch 2 only. Nintendo’s US eShop page says October 22, 2026, 12 motion-control sports at Spocco Resort / Wuhu Island, and “exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 system.” Up to four people on one system offline. That is the first-party store copy, not a preview.

PEAK (consoles) — October 22

Thursday digital on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Gematsu and Game Informer both date the console versions October 22. The PC game has been on Steam since 2025; this is the console pass, not a new PC build. We did not independently confirm cross-play, digital price, or the later physical SKU from an official Aggro Crab or Landfall page, so those stay off this list.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (Switch 2) — October 22

Thursday digital on Nintendo Switch 2. SNK’s September press release dates the digital Switch 2 version October 22, 2026, with a physical Starter Edition later — January 21, 2027 in Japan, other regions “announced later.” Standard Edition is the base game; Starter Edition bundles Season Passes 1–3. The game is already out on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. This is the handheld SKU.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — October 23

Friday worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Battle.net, Steam, Xbox on PC), and Nintendo Switch 2. Activision’s editions page is the source for that platform list and the October 23 date. Digital preorders already opened Campaign Early Access on October 16 (PT) and DMZ Early Access on October 20 (PT). For the clock times, see the separate DMZ early-access brief on this desk.

Also this week

One Piece: Grand Gourmet is on Game Informer’s Friday board — October 23 on Switch 2, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android. Gematsu lists the same platforms in this week’s Japan roundup without printing a weekday. Steam Next Fest: October 2026 runs Monday, October 19 at 10:00 AM PDT through Monday, October 26 at 10:00 AM PDT, per Valve’s Steamworks schedule. Demos, not a sale.
